St. Germaine 'Tourist' | 21" dia.
Perpetual Motion draws its initial spark from St. Germain’s Tourist, using the track as both a muse and metronome. Minimal color and textured patterns interweave to create a visual rhythm, echoing the looping melodies that filled the studio during its creation. I immerse myself in a single piece of music for each work, playing it on repeat to dissolve the boundaries between sound and sight. In this painting, lines pulse and colors hum, forming a composition that feels alive—moving endlessly, even in stillness.

St. Germaine’s “Tourist” was the point of departure for this image. I played with minimal color and utilized textured patterns to formulate rhythm throughout the piece.
Perpetual Motion explores the use of line and color to create rhythm and convey the sense of constant movement in a static image. For each work I select a track of music that I play in a constant loop throughout the painting process. This allows me to get swept into the music so that I can use its rhythm and melodies to help orchestrate the painting's composition.
